Acts Part 6

(Acts 8:26-40, Acts 9:1-19)

Acts 9:1-2 Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples. He went to the high priest 2 and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem.

As we begin to examine chapter nine, we see a young man who we were first introduced to at the stoning of Stephen. His name is Saul. Saul is a Pharisee and a D________________ E____________ of Christianity.

“T_______ W_______” is what Christianity was called at that time. We can think of it as “The Way to live according to Jesus.”

When God addresses people in the Old Testament for the purpose of giving them a mission, he calls their name T___________ to announce that a very serious and divine calling is about to be revealed.

When preparing to perform a task that is both important and also dedicated to God, it was a very common practice to F________ while preparing in order to secure God’s blessing upon your efforts.

Ananias must have thought there was some M_________________, so he points out to God that this Saul has done so much to harm the people. Ananias also points out that this Saul is coming to Damascus for the express P_________________ of doing even more harm to God’s people.

I would say a conversion like that leaves no room for D______________.

Take Away Lesson: Whatever road we may be on in life, when we personally encounter the risen Christ, our lives are changed forever.

Acts 9:15-16 15 But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel. 16 I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.”
